A brand new shop is set to open in Bristol this weekend, specialising in a variety of trading cards, including Pokemon. The Pokemon Stand and Trade Off TCG was due to open today (May 9), on Gloucester Road.<\/p>\n

They said: “Grand Opening! After months of hard work, we’re proud to finally announce that Trade Off TCG is opening its very first physical card shop this Saturday.<\/p>\n

“Join us at 374 Gloucester Road, Bristol, for a huge opening party! We’d love to see you there – come meet the team, take part in free pack battles, and check out what we’ve built.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ll be buying, selling, and trading all day, so whether you\u2019re a seasoned collector or just getting started, come down and say hello!”<\/p>\n

To mark the opening, the team are also hosting a giveaway which followers can enter ahead of the opening party, via Instagram. The new store will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, 11am-6pm.<\/p>\n

Trade Off TCG is known for hosting its card shows, like the upcoming Bristol Card Convention, which this year takes place tomorrow (May 10) at The Prospect Building on the Feeder Road. This year’s event promises: “Vendors selling everything from Pok\u00e9mon, One Piece, and Magic: The Gathering to all your favourite TCGs and everything in between.<\/p>\n

“Whether you\u2019re hunting grails, building decks, or just soaking up the atmosphere \u2013 this is the place to be.”<\/p>\n

The Gloucester Road site was formerly home to beloved plant shop Fancy Plants which closed its doors in early 2025<\/a>. The store was known for its white exterior and interior filled to the brim with plants, as well as its regular workshops and other plant-themed events<\/a>, including terrarium building.<\/p>\n

It confirmed it was not renewing its lease, saying: “After 6 years of running a shop I\u2019m making some big changes. Running a retail business is a 24\/7 commitment and I need to give myself some time off.<\/p>\n

“I will be selling plants online as well as focusing on events and workshops, including offering plant themed workshops all over the city at some great venues. I will be selling plants regularly through Instagram and our website as soon as the shop is sorted so watch this space!<\/p>\n

“And we have more exciting plans in the pipeline so you can still come and immerse yourself in a plant filled space when you are picking up your bargains – we will be offering delivery too. It will be a big change and the end of a brilliant time.
