Jason Watkins<\/a> and Robson Green<\/a>‘s new British detective drama The Game<\/a> starts on TV tonight. <\/p>\n

The four-part series will air its first episode on Channel 5 at 9pm, with the remaining episodes set to follow each evening this week until the series comes to a dramatic conclusion on Thursday 15 May. <\/p>\n

Previously titled Catch You Later, The Game stars Watkins as a retired detective named Huw Miller, who is still haunted by a case he failed to solve involving a serial killer who toyed with his victims before murdering them.<\/p>\n

However, when Huw’s new neighbour Patrick Harbottle (Green) moves in and utters the words “Catch you later” \u2014 the chilling sign-off the killer used to taunt Huw during the investigation \u2014 Huw is certain Patrick is the culprit. <\/p>\n

The synopsis reads: “What follows is a high stakes game of psychological chess between the two neighbours as Huw’s world begins to crumble around him.<\/p>\n

“Unable to bear the guilt of the stalker taking another victim under his nose, Huw risks everything to unearth the truth. But has he set his sights on the right man, or is his obsession pushing him ever closer to the brink?”<\/p>\n

Casualty<\/a> actor Sunetra Sarker also stars in The Game, which is described as a “cat-and-mouse thriller”, as Huw’s wife.<\/p>\n

Previously speaking to Deadline<\/a> about the series, Green explained that the way his character says “catch you later” “triggers” something in Huw to dig deeper.<\/p>\n

“Patrick is over-friendly, and Huw feels everything is not quite what it seems,” he continued.<\/p>\n

“Very quickly you realise there is a game being played, but is Patrick a stalker and is Huw on the right track or spiralling out of control psychologically?<\/p>\n

“The amazing thing that plays out in this series is the capitulation of Huw, played beautifully by Jason, and whether Patrick is just a friendly guy concerned about his welfare, or if he is psychologically torturing him. The audience will wonder what his motives are.”<\/p>\n

The Game<\/strong> airs on Channel 5.<\/strong><\/p>\n
