Eurovision Fun reports that the city has started examining the criteria that would be required to be met for the city to be able to successfully host the Eurovision Song Contest.<\/p>\n<p>Thessaloniki was one of three cities that bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, following Greece\u2019s first victory in the competition in Kyiv, Ukraine. Athens, Patras and Thessaloniki all submitted bids to ERT, with Athens ultimately chosen to host the contest.<\/p>\n<p>A number of cities across Europe have started early discussions regarding potentially hosting the competition. In Finland, Greece and Denmark, starter conversations have commenced to understand the logistics of hosting, due to the tight timelines to determine a host city and start preparing for the next edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.<\/p>\n<p>Find out more about the history of bids to host Eurovision contests below:<\/p>\n<p>Akylas will represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Three years later, Greece earned their first top 5 finish with Paschalis, Marianna, Robert, and Bessy, who finished in 5th place with \u201cMathima solfege\u201d. In 2001, Greece achieved their first top 3 placing with Antique and the song \u201cI Would Die For You\u201d. The song became a European hit and charted across the continent. In 2005, Helena Paparizou returned to the Eurovision stage as a solo artist and brought Greece their first, and to date only, victory.
