A community food growing network working across West Leeds is set to expand its activity after receiving almost \u00a320,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund.<\/p>\n

Incredible Edible Leeds, which supports neighbourhood-led growing projects across the city, will use the award to strengthen and develop its network of nearly 25 local groups operating across more than 75 sites. <\/p>\n

There are already\u00a0Incredible Edible\u00a0Leeds groups established in Bramley, Pudsey and Armley \u2013 and people across West Leeds are being encouraged to get in touch if they\u2019d like to set up a group in their community.<\/p>\n

Dan Robinson formed the organisation in 2019 as part of the Incredible Edible Network, with the intention of creating kinder, more confident and more connected communities through the power of growing food. <\/p>\n

The produce is free for anyone to pick and eat and can be found everywhere from local high streets to railway platforms.<\/p>\n

Mr Robinson said: \u201cWe want to thank National Lottery players for their support. This award comes at just the right time for the organisation as it focuses on supporting more citizen-led initiatives across Leeds. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur groups represent their communities so well and this money will go directly to them, as they shape their neighbourhoods for years to come; focussing on activities that are impactful, accessible and equitable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The funding will allow the group to introduce more water-saving guidelines and equipment, restore unused and unloved existing orchards as well as identify new opportunities to grow fruit trees in parks and local green spaces, plus continue bringing people together through community growing, shared meals and events.\u00a0<\/p>\n
