However, it came to nothing when Sheffield knocked on.

Sheffield on 17 minutes were awarded a second penalty when Jake Dickinson was pinged for holding down. This once again came to nothing when Gill’s forward pass went into touch.

Sheffield gained momentum in 20 minutes when Jordan Abdul hoisted a huge spiral bomb on the last that Galea couldn’t collect to give the visitors a fresh set 30 meters out.

This was taken full advantage of when the Eagles winger Walkey had a walk-in when Dickinson shot the line. For 0-10 on 23 minutes, as Abdul missed the touchline kick.

The restart hampered Town further when Carter kicked out on the full to give Sheffield another set inside the Town half.

In the defended, and in the next set, Town’s defence was left wanting, and Sheffield crossed for 0-14 in half an hour. Abdul converting for 0-16.

The game continued to ebb and flow, with Town not being able to make headway, and Sheffield walked through would-be defence as Corkill and Stephenson missed their man.

Abdul produced a waterslpash moment and missed the kick for 0-20.

Town’s poor defence was exposed again when they failed to close down the halfback as Walkley strolled past Dickinson to score on the sidelines again for 0-24. Abdul is again missing.

The second half started with Sheffield being on top and peppering the Town line with attacks within the first few minutes as Lewthwaite and Dickinson were busted in the tackle by Gill. Abdul missing the kick into the wind.

Town did come back into the contest as they threw the ball around, gaining a penalty for a late hit on Lewthwaite. This game was over when Galea threw a forward pass.

Town were awarded a penalty on 50 minutes for laying onto Galea as Doran forced a Dropout. Town were in on 53 minutes as sustained pressure allowed Rio Corkill to take Town over the line for 6-28, Carter nailing the kick into the wind.

Town did come back into the game more as it went set for set, and were lucky not to give away a penalty when Ryan Millar looked to be taken high.

Town were back on the scoreboard on the hour when a huge break from Galea looked to see Carter in, only to be stopped agonisingly short of the line; however, a huge pass from Galea allowed Corkill in for a second try, Carter hitting the uprights with his conversion attempt.

Town continued to grow, and when Phillips came on, he made a near instant impact before being adjudged offside from a Carter kick with the line beckoning.

Town were back under the posts as Corkill scored a first career hat-trick to give Town hope of the impossible into the last 10 minutes. Carter nailed the kick for 16-28.

Town were coming away from their line when Jake Carter threw a wayward pass that moved forward to give Sheffield the ball back.

The game was then back and forth without Town being able to make a further dent into the Eagles’ lead to save their blushes.

The Town ladies were also in action and made it 3 wins in 3 in all competitions, winning 12-28 away at Stanningley as Beth Adams, Chloe Archer, Kacey Currie, Leonie Bragg and the returning Izzy Suggitt crossed to Town. Chatters converting all but 1 of the Town scores in Leeds.

The ladies player of the match was awarded to Town vice captain Josie Scrimgour for another influential performance in the halves.

Next up for the Ladies is a huge table-topping clash at home to Wakefield Trinity on Sunday, May 17.

[8817
748,393,4884,1620,16,15
0":"post-951416","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sheffield","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-sheffield","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
