Some of the most grand and quintessentially English properties have been lost to history in the Birmingham<\/a> area over the decades.<\/p>\n

Historic country houses have been demolished, reduced in size or fallen into ruin since 1800.<\/p>\n

LostHeritage.org<\/a> has documented some of those Midland homes in a database.<\/p>\n

Its aim is to provide an image and history for each house.<\/p>\n

New images and updates are added regularly for sites across the country.<\/p>\n

BirminghamLive has taken a look at some of the lost heritage properties in our region.<\/p>\n

Perry Hall<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perry Hall was a beautiful manor house in Perry Barr<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was re-built in 1576 by Sir Robert Stamford who was the Lord of the Manor of Perry Barr and Handsworth.<\/p>\n

It was later bought by Sir Henry Gough in 1669 and remained with the Goughs and Gough-Calthorpes.<\/p>\n

However, by 1919 it was abandoned as a family residence.<\/p>\n

It was demolished from around 1929. Its stables and a lodge were the final areas to remain before they too were demolished.<\/p>\n

It now remains the site of Perry Hall Park off Perry Avenue. The boating pool is part of the moat of Perry Hall.<\/p>\n

Four Oaks Hall<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four Oaks Hall in Sutton Coldfield<\/a> was a late 17th Century house.<\/p>\n

It was thought that Sir William Wilson designed it in 1696 for the 3rd Lord Folliott.<\/p>\n

It was then rebuilt in the 1740s.<\/p>\n

Four Oaks Hall was latterly bought with the intention of developing a racetrack around the estate. While the hall would have been the clubhouse.<\/p>\n

However, it later became derelict before it was replaced by a housing estate.<\/p>\n

Bentley Manor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bentley Manor was a 16th Century country house in Redditch<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sadly, the house was demolished in the 1950s due to dry rot.<\/p>\n
