Leeds United<\/a> look as though they will be in the market for more centre-backs this summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was to be expected given Daniel Farke\u2019s<\/a> change in formation to a five at the back midway through the current campaign. A left-footed defender to compete with Pascal Struijk is an obvious necessity for United.<\/p>\n

However, with recent reports suggesting that Sebastiaan Bornauw could be in line to leave Leeds<\/a>, the 49ers may need to fork out for another centre-back to provide cover and competition for Jaka Bijol and Joe Rodon.<\/p>\n

This has seen Leeds linked with a blockbuster move for one of Chelsea\u2019s defenders. He is currently out on loan at another Premier League side.<\/p>\n

Leeds United \u2018reportedly\u2019 keeping tabs on Axel Disasi<\/p>\n

Disasi, 28, is someone Leeds fans will be very familiar with this season after the Frenchman scored a dramatic 96th-minute equaliser for West Ham in our FA Cup quarter-final, sending the tie to extra time.<\/p>\n

Disasi has impressed ever since his loan move to West Ham midway through the season. And, a recent report from claims that Leeds will be among the clubs looking at the towering defender. The Frenchman seemingly does not have a future at Chelsea.<\/p>\n

The report claims that Disasi was someone Leeds showed an interest in during the January transfer window. Now, this interest could be rekindled in the summer, but a potential fee was not mentioned.<\/p>\n

Leeds\u2019 chances of landing Disasi\u2019s signature would also seemingly increase dramatically if West Ham are ultimately relegated. The Hammers are likely to be priced out of a permanent deal should they fall into the second tier.<\/p>\n

However, the news that we are reportedly looking at Disasi is sure to make Bijol<\/a> nervous going into next season.<\/p>\n

Jaka Bijol may struggle for gametime if Leeds United sign Axel Disasi<\/p>\n

Whilst many Leeds supporters would argue that Bijol has had a better season than Rodon, it is clear that Farke views the Welshman as virtually untouchable when it comes to starting games for us when fit.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s easy to forget now due to how impressive Bijol has been for Leeds in recent months. But, the 27-year-old struggled to break into the team at the start of the season. His first Premier League start came in October.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, when Bijol suffered an injury midway through the campaign, he had to bide his time when it came to getting back into the team. James Justin was impressing in the meantime, during his absence.<\/p>\n

By no means am I saying that Disasi is better than Bijol. In fact, I think it should be a deal we avoid due to the hefty fee that Chelsea would likely demand.<\/p>\n

But it would be clear that if Disasi, or another defender of his calibre, arrived in West Yorkshire over the summer, then they would not be arriving to play a backup role like Bornauw has done.<\/p>\n

And whether it be through injury or a run of poor form from the team, Farke has already shown this season that Bijol\u2019s place in the team would be the one under threat and not Rodon\u2019s.<\/p>\n
