{"id":951685,"date":"2026-05-11T02:26:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T02:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/951685\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T02:26:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T02:26:13","slug":"smithdown-road-closed-in-both-directions-live-as-fire-breaks-out-at-takeaway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/951685\/","title":{"rendered":"Smithdown Road closed in both directions LIVE as fire breaks out at takeaway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">There are currently eight fire engines at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) are in attendance at an incident on Smithdown Road, Liverpool on the evening of Sunday 10 May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;Crews were alerted at 22.04 and on scene at 22.10, there are currently 8 fire engines and one aerial appliance in attendance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;On arrival this was a fire within a property, two firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) were committed under rapid deployment with one hose reel jet to fight the fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;This incident has been sectorised, and the fire has spread to the chimney into the roof space above. MFRS crews are continuing to fight the fire internally and externally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;The building has been evacuated, and Merseyside Police are in attendance to assist with traffic management.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;This is an ongoing incident, please avoid the area.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There are currently eight fire engines at the scene.
