{"id":952584,"date":"2026-05-11T12:26:38","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:26:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/952584\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T12:26:38","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:26:38","slug":"pudsey-bear-finds-voice-for-children-in-needs-mental-health-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/952584\/","title":{"rendered":"Pudsey Bear finds voice for Children In Need\u2019s mental health campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Children In Need mascot, known for his yellow fur and colourful bandana, will star in a short film titled Pudsey Finds His Voice which hopes to deliver the message that every child deserves an adult who will listen.<\/p>\n<p>The yellow bear will break his silence for the first time since he came to life in 1985, while in conversation with actor Dexter Sol Ansell, as part of BBC Children In Need\u2019s campaign for Mental Health Awareness Week.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/a29cd65f-4865-4e12-a608-e2ccc707c075.png\" alt=\"A small Pudsey bear toy on a wooden floor\"  \/>Pudsey Finds His Voice will air on Monday (BBC\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>The 30-second film, co-produced by BBC Creative and Blinkink, will urge adults to take responsibility for children\u2019s mental health by highlighting how important it is for them to have someone to confide in and vocalise their worries, concerns and feelings with.<\/p>\n<p>Pudsey Bear was first created by BBC graphic designer Joanna Lane and quickly became the face of Children In Need, taking part in its fundraising and volunteer activities to raise money for children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign comes amid research by Children\u2019s In Need which found children who often have someone to talk to are around nine times more likely to say they feel happy than those who do not.<\/p>\n<p>The charity also commissioned research by Censuswide which found 24% of children keep their worries to themselves, while 38% say their worries have made life less enjoyable or caused them to stay silent out of fear or embarrassment, highlighting how many children are struggling silently.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1613380a-9e04-4a39-b2f3-cb6062286b98.png\" alt=\"Dexter Sol Ansell seated at a table talking to Pudsey Bear, which is sitting on it\"  \/>Pudsey Bear finds his voice while in conversation with actor Dexter Sol Ansell (BBC\/PA)<\/p>\n<p>Claire Hoyle, interim chief executive at BBC Children In Need, said: \u201cOur research makes clear that far too many children and young people are carrying their worries alone, and that silence can have serious consequences for their mental health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know the difference one trusted adult can make. When a child feels heard, it can change everything \u2013 helping them cope earlier and stopping problems from becoming more serious.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPudsey has stood alongside children for over 40 years, and now, for the first time ever, he\u2019s finding his voice. Pudsey is finding his voice because too many children feel they can\u2019t share what they\u2019re going through, and too many adults aren\u2019t sure how to start that conversation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis campaign is a call to adults.
