{"id":953105,"date":"2026-05-11T17:55:25","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T17:55:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/953105\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T17:55:25","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T17:55:25","slug":"council-sells-armley-land-for-housing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/953105\/","title":{"rendered":"Council sells Armley land for housing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>By Don Mort,<\/strong> local democracy reporting service<\/p>\n<p>A housing scheme could be built on a vacant plot of council land after a buyer was found for the site.<\/p>\n<p>More than 30 apartments and houses could be created at the site at Mistress Lane in Armley.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds City Council put the land up for sale after it was previously allocated for housing.<\/p>\n<p>A council report said the sale would raise cash and relieve the local authority of future maintenance costs after a preferred bidder was selected.<\/p>\n<p>It said: \u201cThe site is currently incurring expenditure such as costs associated with grass cutting and addressing anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA sale of the property would alleviate the council of these costs as well as realising a capital receipt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The council previously approved plans for an affordable housing scheme on the land.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds Community Homes was set to build 28 flats in three separate blocks, along with six semi-detached houses.
