Johnson will direct the project, currently known as the Untitled Matt Johnson Film, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/finn-wolfhard\/\" id=\"auto-tag_finn-wolfhard_1\" data-tag=\"finn-wolfhard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Finn Wolfhard<\/a> set to star. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe story is inspired by true events that saw <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalpost.com\/news\/canada\/how-an-editor-allegedly-used-vice-canada-to-recruit-drug-mules-for-a-global-smuggling-ring?itm_source=vice-canada\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a Vice Canada editor recruit drug mules<\/a> for an international cocaine smuggling operation, including out of the media giant\u2019s offices. Wolfhard will play the Canadian investigative journalist who helped break the story.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNeon will release the film in the US and will handle international sales out of this year\u2019s Cannes film market. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDepartment M is exec producing the film.\u00a0Matthew Miller and Matt Greyson will be produce for Zapruder Films, in association with Rhombus Media. Telefilm Canada is helping to finance the feature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tJohnson, repped by WME, directed the critically acclaimed movie BlackBerry and was last in theaters with Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, which is based on his Canadian television series of the same name. His other credits include indie features The Dirties and Operation Avalanche, the latter of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tUp next, he directs the Anthony Bourdain movie Tony, starring Dominic Sessa, that is being released by A24 this summer. Johnson is also developing a Magic: The Gathering feature film for Legendary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWolfhard, who worked with Neon on his directorial debut Hell of a Summer, recently wrapped up his run on Netflix juggernaut Stranger Things.
