Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s new owner David Storch will deal with the \u201cbig issues\u201d at Hillsborough after finalising his takeover.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider <\/strong>it\u2019s \u201cbrilliant\u201d the Owls have avoided a 15-point deduction in League One next season following their relegation from the Championship<\/a>. <\/p>\n It was confirmed on 2 May Arise Capital Partners, which comprises Storch, his son Michael and Tom Costin, has completed its takeover of Sheffield Wednesday. <\/p>\n The South Yorkshire giants have been relegated to League One, having been deducted 18 points for breaching the EFL\u2019s regulations after going into administration. <\/p>\n However, the EFL confirmed Sheffield Wednesday will not be deducted a further 15 points next season after former owner Dejphon Chansiri failed to engage with offers for the club.\u00a0<\/p>\n SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY REBORN<\/p>\n \u2014 Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) May 2, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n View Tweet<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n How Sheffield Wednesday avoided 15-point deduction<\/p>\n The 15-point penalty was expected to be enforced due to Arise\u2019s offer not meeting the EFL\u2019s requirement to repay creditors 25p in the pound, with Chansiri needing to be paid \u00a315million of the \u00a360m he loaned Sheffield Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n While the\u00a0EFL has been praised<\/a>\u00a0for waiving the rule, it has been told flexibility must now be shown in future cases of this nature.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s timeline of events this season<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider<\/strong>,\u00a0Borson discussed the situation at Sheffield Wednesday following Storch\u2019s takeover.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s brilliant that they\u2019ve managed to get themselves out of the 15 points,\u201d said Borson. <\/p>\n \u201cIt really makes a big difference for momentum. There\u2019s a huge amount of work to do though. They know that. They\u2019re already talking about all the stuff that needs doing. Hot water in the stadium for one, running water in some areas of the stadium. <\/p>\n \u201cAll they can do is sequentially deal with the big issues.
