The design, which features a segmented fruit with a green leaf motif, was blocked by the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) after Apple contested that the design was too similar to its own.<\/p>\n<p>While Apple is certainly no stranger to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/design\/logos-icons\/5-heated-design-disputes-that-shook-the-internet\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/design\/logos-icons\/5-heated-design-disputes-that-shook-the-internet\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/design\/logos-icons\/5-heated-design-disputes-that-shook-the-internet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">design disputes<\/a>, this latest case demonstrates the powerful influence the brand has over the tech world. Featuring a disconnected circular design with a &#8216;bite&#8217; missing, segments resembling a keyboard, and a leaf motif, the design&#8217;s use of pattern and colour would seemingly make it stand out against Apple&#8217;s minimalist branding.<\/p>\n<p>Latest Videos From<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/media\/img\/creativebloq_logo.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"block h-[18px] w-auto shrink-0 brightness-0 invert\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/media\/img\/creativebloq_logo.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"max-h-12 w-auto\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p>            You may like<\/p>\n<p>    <a id=\"elk-seasonal\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-1f3ed493-ba3c-4d56-9717-747b5ce6cad9-1\">According to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2026\/05\/06\/apple-eu-trademark-challenge-citrus-logo\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2026\/05\/06\/apple-eu-trademark-challenge-citrus-logo\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" rel=\"noopener\">MacRumors<\/a>, Apple contested the application, claiming, &#8220;given the immense reputation of the Opponent&#8217;s Earlier Mark, it is hard to believe that the Applicant&#8217;s intention was not, at the very least, to bring the Opponent&#8217;s Apple Logo to mind in some way.&#8221; While the EUIPO didn&#8217;t agree with Apple&#8217;s claims, it acknowledged that the two logos shared &#8220;minor commonalities&#8221;, siding with Apple given its notoriety and &#8220;potential for customers to &#8216;establish a mental link&#8217; between the signs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-a366f485-1245-4d40-9e71-185e3fdd87d6\">It&#8217;s not the first time Apple has contested a rival brand&#8217;s fruit logo \u2013 a couple of years ago, the tech brand was entangled in a <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/news\/apple-prepear-logo-resolution\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/news\/apple-prepear-logo-resolution\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/news\/apple-prepear-logo-resolution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dispute over a Pear logo<\/a>, which ended in a baffling conclusion.
