Jamie Carragher has echoed the thoughts of a lot of Liverpool fans on Arne Slot, comparing the Reds\u2019 current situation with Manchester United.<\/p>\n

Slot<\/a> is coming under increasing pressure for his job from outside Anfield, with fans showing that they are losing patience with their head coach. The Dutchman was booed during Saturday\u2019s 1-1 draw with Chelsea after his decision to substitute Rio Ngumoha<\/a>, and Liverpool\u2019s performances this season have led to speculation that he could be replaced this summer.<\/p>\n

Liverpool though is understood to be sticking by its man, with Slot having indicated at the weekend that he is working on summer transfers with the club, having promised \u201c100 percent\u201d that supporters will see an improvement from his side next season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Former defender Carragher<\/a> admits he\u2019s worried though, and has compared the situation to the one United found itself in with Erik ten Hag in 2024.<\/p>\n

Like Slot, there were serious questions over the former Ajax boss\u2019 future at Old Trafford after a poor second season in charge. United though chose to back Ten Hag, handing him a new contract and spending big on transfers, only to fire him two months into the new season.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t deny it as a Liverpool supporter,\u201d Carragher said on Sky Sports\u2019 Monday Night Football.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t even think it\u2019s a 50\/50 split now on Arne Slot, and I know people outside of the club can\u2019t quite get their heads around that<\/a>, thinking \u2018this guy won the league, it looks like he\u2019s going to get you Champions League football in his second season.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the drop-off has been so stark, and there\u2019s been no improvement really from day one until the end of the season, in results or performances that you think \u2018is it going to get any better?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cMy worry with Liverpool and Arne Slot a little bit is are we going to be in a situation where, a little bit like Ten Hag, where he had a great first season, didn\u2019t win the league, Slot won the league so that\u2019s a completely different level, but the second season was really poor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen you keep the manager on the back of what he did in his first season, and then it carries on poorly. Then you get into October and you think \u2018we\u2019ve got to change the manager\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s probably a little bit of a feeling with Liverpool supporters, but it looks from the things we\u2019re hearing that Arne Slot\u2019s going to be given another opportunity next season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Slot\u2019s future has come into sharper focus this week amid reports that Chelsea is in talks with Xabi Alonso<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The former midfielder has long been linked with a return to Liverpool, having been fired by Real Madrid back in January. Carragher feels his former club could still land his old teammate<\/a>, although it would require a decision to be made on Slot quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be a feeling that, I think from a lot of Liverpool supporters, that Xabi Alonso\u2019s<\/a> there, and if we wanted him, he would come to us because of his history with the club,\u201d Carragher added.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like the club have made their decision on Slot, and it tells you they\u2019ve made their decision on Slot in the fact that there\u2019s talks between Xabi Alonso and Chelsea.
