Man Utd youngster Amir Ibragimov is considering his international future after being called up by Russia<\/p>\n

Manchester United youngster Amir Ibragimov has been included in Russia’s expanded senior squad for their upcoming friendlies. Ibragimov is eligible to represent England and Russia, but has not yet decided on his international future.<\/p>\n

Ibragimov had featured for England at Under-15 and Under-16 level. However, he has been included in Russia’s expanded squad for their upcoming friendlies against Egypt, Burkina Faso and Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News understands Ibragimov is currently weighing up his international future. No decision has been made at this stage, so he is not confirmed to join Russia’s national team later this month.<\/p>\n

Ibragimov is one of the most highly rated prospects in the academy<\/a>. Three years ago, he trained with the first-team for the first time when he was just 15, and he has continued to progress through the ranks.<\/p>\n

The midfielder recently returned to action on the pitch after a five-month lay-off due to an injury, coming off the bench against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League Cup<\/a> final.<\/p>\n

Russia will not be a part of the World Cup this summer after being banned by FIFA following the invasion of Ukraine. They were banned from qualifying, meaning they could not earn a spot at the tournament.<\/p>\n

The last official match played by Russia’s men under the banner of mainstream competition was a 1-0 defeat by Croatia in a 2022 World Cup qualifying fixture in November 2021.<\/p>\n

Russia have still competed internationally in friendlies, though, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently said that international bans in professional sports do \u2018more harm than good\u2019.<\/p>\n

However, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said his organisation is not considering Russia\u2019s return to international football, despite FIFA chief Infantino signalling support for easing the ban.<\/p>\n
