\n\tBAFTA Rising Star winner Mia McKenna-Bruce<\/a> has joined the cast of \u201cThe Species,\u201d the upcoming drama from Justin Chadwick (\u201cMandela: Long Walk To Freedom,\u201d \u201cThe Other Boleyn Girl,\u201d \u201cBleak House\u201d). <\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cHow to Have Sex\u201d breakout, recently seen in \u201cThe Lady\u201d and set to star in the upcoming \u201cThe Beatles \u2013 A Four-Film Cinematic Event,\u201d joins Anthony Hopkins<\/a>, Charlotte Rampling<\/a> and Tom Hollander in the feature, being sold internationally by HanWay Films in Cannes. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Species\u201d follows Emma Darwin (Rampling), recently widowed following the death of famed naturalist Charles Darwin (Hopkins), as she finds herself locked in a battle with her son George and pushy publisher Marshall Winwick (Hollander) over Charles\u2019 autobiography. It presents a challenge to her faith: will the publication of her almost heretically atheist husband\u2019s work jeopardise his safe passage to heaven and their chance to be reunited in the afterlife? McKenna-Bruce will play Jane, the family\u2019s maid at the Darwin estate.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe script is written by Jacob Killion, with award-winning British theater, television and film director Chadwick at the helm. Chadwick\u2019s recent television credits include serving as lead director on \u201cShardlake\u201d for Disney+, and directing \u201cBecoming Elizabeth\u201d for Starz, \u201cTin Star\u201d for Sky and \u201cNext of Kin\u201d for ITV. Visual collaborator is Oscar-nominated photographer and filmmaker Evgenia Arbugaeva( \u201cHaulout\u201d). The score comes from by Lorne Balfe (\u201cMission: Impossible \u2013 Fallout,\u201d \u201cThe Crown,\u201d \u201cTop Gun: Maverick\u201d). Eyde Belasco is casting.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMia is a perfect addition to this most excellent cast.\u201d said Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films. \u201cShe brings a fresh youthful authenticity to the roles she plays and \u2018How to Have Sex\u2019 landed her as a very exciting talent coming out of the U.K..\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is produced by Christian Taylor (Taylor Lane Productions) and Mary Aloe (Aloe Entertainment). Rich Bolger of Hail Mary Pictures is co-producing with support by F\u00eds \u00c9ireann\/Screen Ireland. The U.K. co-producer is Patrick O\u2019Neill of Wildcard. Executive Producers include Charlotte Dauphin of Dauphin Films, Tom Heller, and Steve Alexander and Idylia Hachi of AHA Productions.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Species\u201d has already some key major distrobutors including KMBO in France; Wild Bunch in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; Nos Lusomundo in Portugal; MCF Megacom in Former Yugoslavia; Front Row in the MENA territories; Bir Film in Turkey; The Film Group in Greece; and Shaw Organisation in Singapore.<\/p>\n
