He groomed a child &#8211; who was aged ten at the time -, raping and sexually assaulting her on a number of occasions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">When he was 19, Waterhouse moved back to the Torfaen area of Wales where he groomed a teenage girl and raped and had sexual activity with her on a number of occasions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Police were made aware of Waterhouse in 2018 when his first victim reached out to the second victim and his crimes were reported to Gwent Police, who then reported it to Avon and Somerset Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Waterhouse was found guilty of:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Two counts of multiple rapes of a girl under 13 years old<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Two counts of multiple assaults of a child by penetration<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Sexual assault of a child under 13<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Rape of a girl<\/li>\n<li class=\"LiItem_li-item__IF4xI\">Three counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 when the offender was over 18<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Police said some of the charges were multiple offences, where several incidents are complied into one charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The force added the first victim made further disclosures about Waterhouse in 2023, and he was then charged with further offences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The force said the trial was due to take place in November 2024, but it was postponed until February 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">On Thursday, March 5, 2026, Waterhouse was found guilty. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison on Thursday, May 7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">He must serve a minimum of nine-and-a-half years before he is eligible to apply for parole. Waterhouse is also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be added to the Sex Offenders&#8217; Register for life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He didn\u2019t just take my childhood&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In a statement, Waterhouse\u2019s first victim said: \u201cCallum Waterhouse didn\u2019t just take my childhood, he took my teenage years and the pain and trauma will live with me, but it won\u2019t get the best of me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cIt took 10 years to get to court, but I am finally being heard now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">She added: \u201cI hate that this happened to me, I hate that he\u2019s had such an affect, impact and change on my life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cNo jail time will ever give me what I should\u2019ve had back. I blame Callum Waterhouse for the character you\u2019ve forced me to be, for the failure in relationships and the lack of confidence and for making men my biggest nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It has caused me eight years of constant grief&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Waterhouse\u2019s second victim said: \u201cI felt lost and unsure about how to navigate and transition into adulthood. It has caused me eight years of constant grief and worry, feeling like I haven\u2019t been able to move on with my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Speaking directly to Waterhouse, one of his victims said: \u201cToday, I walk away from this, leaving all the evil and darkness with you. I give you my pain, my flashbacks and my fears, they will now be yours and I will now build a beautiful life for myself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cI will finally know what happiness and freedom feels like, I refuse to live my life as your victim, I will work to rebuild myself. I refuse to let you have a hold on me any longer and you will now live with all the questions and I hope you live with guilty for the rest of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What the police say<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Officer in the case, Detective Inspector Simon Da Costa said: \u201cThis has been a lengthy and complex investigation, followed by a significant wait for the trial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cI want to acknowledge the victims\u2019 patience and thank them for the courage they have shown in coming forward and supporting this case throughout. Their strength and resilience have been key in securing this conviction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThe sentence reflects the serious harm caused by Callum Waterhouse.
