Having customers ask me, \u201cHow are you?\u201d or \u201cHow are you doing?\u201d has become triggering.<\/p>\n
Something happened during the pandemic where I would greet my customer by asking, and the next thing you know, they are completely unloading on me, all of their fears, anxiety, unsolicited opinions, political views\u2014you name it.<\/p>\n
Never mind that I am doing face-to-face service and have my own worries and anxieties.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
It\u2019s not like she doesn\u2019t care, but it\u2019s completely one-sided.<\/p>\n
\nWhile I do care, I feel more and more like I\u2019m seen as an emotional support human, and all of my energy and empathy are being sucked out of me.<\/p>\n
Alternatively, you can tell people don\u2019t honestly care how you\u2019re doing; they don\u2019t respond to the actual question; they just want to continue the transaction, and I\u2019m left hanging, feeling foolish.<\/p>\n
I know this may sound silly, but it\u2019s hard and beyond aggravating to me at this point.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
