As the James Bond series enters its new era, franchise owner Amazon<\/a> has put the next film under the stewardship of Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, SAS Rogue Heroes, A Thousand Blows and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (yes, really).<\/p>\n

In addition to having plenty of hits under his belt, Knight also has spy levels of resilience as he told Deadline<\/a> on the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet that he couldn’t go specifics about Bond \u2014 apart from a few tantalising teases.<\/p>\n

“I can’t [say anything] apart from: It’s really, really good,” he said. “It’s going incredibly well, we’ve got the best people. I can’t wait for people to see it!”<\/p>\n

When asked how the partnership with Amazon is going, he simply said: “Everything is going fantastically.”<\/p>\n

As screenwriter, Knight is developing the film with director Denis Villeneuve and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman.<\/p>\n

He previously stated that he’s writing the role without a lead actor in mind. So many actors have been linked to 007, but we’ve no idea who they will choose \u2014 or when<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One thing Knight has said though<\/a> is that he’s really diving deep into Ian Fleming’s novels for his research.<\/p>\n

“The books are so good. So underrated as literature,” he said.<\/p>\n

“There’s something about the world that he created that is tangibly real, and yet it’s not real. It’s almost dreamlike somehow. And I just love the way, the style of how he writes, and the dialogue is so good.”<\/p>\n

Amazon MGM Studios’ head of film Courtenay Valenti recently gave an update on the casting situation, stating at CinemaCon last month: “Don’t get too excited. Please know that we’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect.<\/p>\n

“It is the dream of a lifetime for all of us to bring audiences this next chapter, and it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”<\/p>\n

It’s thought James Bond fans could have to wait until 2028 for the next film<\/a>.<\/p>\n
