(Image: Fife Council)

An update confirmed work was underway and explained: “Park Golf is a form of golf that makes it inclusive and accessible for those of all abilities and ages without taking away all the fun competition from the normal game.”

The plans for the six-hole course show each hole featuring astroturf greens and tee areas, grass fairways and concrete platform tee boxes.

It’s being created in the south east corner of the campus – an area that was initially set aside for a community growing plot but will now become a sports facility.

This is what the new Park Golf course in Dunfermline will look like. (Image: Fife Council)

The areas surrounding the holes will be planted with wild flowers, shrubs and a mix of trees with timber knee rails to separate parts of the course.

The council previously said that material from the old schools, which were demolished last year, would be used in the construction of the facility.

The site is around 3,000 square metres in size.

The council said more information, regarding opening dates, the operation of the site and opening dates, will follow as the course takes shape.

Driving ambition. Teeing off at Park Golf. (Image: Fife Council)

Park Golf originated in Japan in 1983 and is a simple and safe version of the game that requires only a mallet-style club and a hard, hockey-sized ball.

Played on shorter courses in parks and gardens, it’s inexpensive and easy to learn, making it suitable for all ages and skill levels.

When the plans were approved last June, Scott Fenton, team manager for community use in West Fife, told the Press: “It will be free to use for the schools and community groups.

The new Park Golf course is being created at the southern end of the Dunfermline Learning Campus (Image: Fife Council)

“It is also hoped to encourage families to come along and play for a small fee.

“The potential for this facility to enhance the already strong links the campus has with the community is huge.

“It’s a great development for the campus and wider community.”

Drainage will be installed and the course will be secured by fencing, with gated access to the north and south.

 Un-Leished.
