While the police have completed their initial investigation, seeing the extent of the damage was a shock.

“The intruders only left with a few soft drinks, however they caused significant damage to the main glass and a major mess in the process. It is deeply frustrating to face such a setback, especially as we have only been open for a few months and have already had to report multiple incidents to the police.

“While we are hesitant about the idea of shutters, the recurring issue of break-ins and vandalism in the city centre has left us feeling on edge, and it is a security measure we are now seriously considering. To clarify, we do not wish to promote a cashless society, but the high risk of our location necessitated this policy for safety.

“Incidents like this are incredibly disheartening for us as we work incredibly hard to build a business. The support from customers and other local businesses is a reminder that it’s worth continuing to build upon.

“Moving forward we hope it’s just good news from us.”

Content cannot be displayed without consent

The Two Ways Coffee team shared a post to Instagram on Monday (May 11) with some photos of the damage, and said: “What a way to start the week! 24 Bond Street Bristol city centre. Two months of trading and this happens.

“People have been asking why we chose this location, and our answers remains the same, we have a vision for this space and we will continue to build upon it. If you want to show your support then come by for a coffee, biscuits or both. We would love to see you!”

Two Ways Coffee and Bakes on Bond Street in Bristol following a break-in (pictured, May 12, 2026)(Image: Paul Gillis/Reach Plc)

Fans were quick to share their support.
