{"id":959437,"date":"2026-05-14T14:17:24","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T14:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/959437\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T14:17:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T14:17:24","slug":"exmoor-white-tailed-eagles-to-be-released-across-national-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/959437\/","title":{"rendered":"Exmoor: White-tailed eagles to be released across National Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It&#8217;s not the first time that the birds have made a comeback in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">White-tailed eagles have previously been successfully reintroduced in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The first successful reintroduction began fifty years ago on the Isle of Rum, in Scotland&#8217;s Inner Hebrides. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, as more schemes have been launched over the years, their return has not always been welcomed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Some Scottish farmers say they are losing tens of thousands of pounds of livestock each year as the eagles take vulnerable lambs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A spokeswoman for the National Sheep Association (NSA) said the organisation had &#8220;concerns when new white-tailed sea eagle releases are discussed&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, Natural England &#8211; the government&#8217;s wildlife licensing authority &#8211; said the reintroduction would be &#8220;carefully planned&#8221; alongside local landowners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">They added that they would &#8220;closely monitor&#8221; how the project on Exmoor is carried out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s not the first time that the birds have made a comeback in the UK.
