{"id":959495,"date":"2026-05-14T14:53:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T14:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/959495\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T14:53:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T14:53:23","slug":"manchester-city-to-rename-and-transform-historic-pub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/959495\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester City to rename and transform historic pub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Manchester venue will be transformed in a chance to raise a glass to two of City&#8217;s &#8216;most popular players of modern times&#8217;<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Manchester landmark Star &amp; Garter is changing its name for Manchester City next week\" loading=\"eager\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/0_081215stargarter19.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"Manchester landmark Star &amp; Garter is changing its name for Manchester City next week\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">Manchester landmark Star &amp; Garter is changing its name for Manchester City next week(Image: Manchester Evening News)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/manchester-city-fc\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Manchester City<\/a> is to open its own pub inside a historic <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/manchester-city-centre\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">city centre<\/a> venue which will be named after two of its biggest players ahead of their exit from the club at the end of the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The legendary Star &amp; Garter venue, on Fairfield Street opposite Piccadilly Station, will be renamed The Stones &amp; Silva for four days next week as part of an opportunity for fans to recognise and honour the careers of <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/john-stones\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">John Stones<\/a> and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/bernardo-silva\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">Bernardo Silva<\/a>, who have played together as part of the squad for close to a decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Running from May 21 to 24, the themed <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/manchester-pubs\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">pub <\/a>will be decked out with club memorabilia and d\u00e9cor inspired by the pair\u2019s \u2018unforgettable moments\u2019 at the club ahead of their exit. The pub will operate on a first come, first serve basis for fans throughout its four days and people have been advised to prepare for big queues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"><a aria-label=\"Click here Link opens in a new tab.\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=d1c9a1cf-d773-47a3-b51a-f456316221bc&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\">Click here <\/a>for the latest on Manchester&#8217;s food &amp; drink scene, gigs and more in our CityLife newsletter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Stones &amp; Silva will be open from 4pm to 12pm next Thursday and Friday, whilst it will open up for visitors from 12pm to 11pm on May 23 and from 12pm to 8pm on its last day (May 24).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">As an added bonus for fans, the first 100 people through the door each day will also receive a complimentary beer courtesy of Asahi. It has since been reported that both Everton and Juventus are said to be considering signing him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Midfielder and captain Silva also<a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/sport\/football\/football-news\/a-man-city-supporter-life-33775848\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\"> announced last month<\/a> that he would leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season after nine years with the Blues. Guardiola also applauded the midfielder\u2019s &#8216;defensive intuition&#8217; following City&#8217;s match against Brentford earlier in the month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">As part of the club\u2019s farewell celebrations for both Stones and Silva, the squad were recently also treated to a chippy supper at the Etihad Stadium courtesy of <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/swinton\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Swinton<\/a> favourites Sykes Fish and Chips bar.
