\n\tThe hunt for the next James Bond<\/a> has officially kicked off. <\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon MGM Studios<\/a> started auditioning actors for the part of 007 in the past few weeks, Variety has learned, with the studio enlisting the help of Nina Gold<\/a> to find the man with the suaveness and danger necessary to replace Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming\u2019s super-spy. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe search for the next James Bond is underway,\u201d Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement. \u201cWhile we don\u2019t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we\u2019re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGold did not respond to a request for comment, but a source with knowledge of the production confirmed her involvement. Her enlistment in the 26th James Bond makes sense. Gold understands the complexities of big franchises and is best known for filling out the world of Westeros on HBO\u2019s \u201cGame of Thrones.\u201d Her credits include the\u00a0Netflix\u00a0series\u00a0\u201cThe Crown,\u201d as well as five films in the Star Wars franchise. The latter gig saw her cast Daisy Ridley as Rey in \u201cThe Force Awakens.\u201d Gold\u2019s credits also include \u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables,\u201d\u00a0\u201cThe Martian\u201d and \u201cConclave.\u201d She was nominated for an Oscar for her work on \u201cHamnet\u201d in 2025 \u2014 the first year that the Academy had an award for casting.<\/p>\n

\n\tDebbie McWilliams served as casting director on \u201cThe Living Daylights,\u201d \u201cGoldeneye\u201d and \u201cCasino Royale,\u201d helping to find Craig, Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton. Sean Connery, Roger Moore and George Lazenby are the other actors who have been granted Bond\u2019s license to kill. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe next James Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, the filmmaker behind the \u201cDune\u201d franchise, \u201cArrival\u201d and \u201cSicario.\u201d Amy Pascal of the \u201cSpider-Man\u201d films and David Heyman\u00a0of the \u201cHarry Potter\u201d series will produce the picture, which will feature a script from \u201cPeaky Blinders\u201d creator Steven Knight. Tanya Lapointe (\u201cDune\u201d) is executive producing the film. <\/p>\n

\n\tEven before auditions started, there\u2019s been rampant speculation<\/a> about who might wield Bond\u2019s Walther PPK, with everyone from Jacob Elordi to Callum Turner and Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumored to be in contention for the role. <\/p>\n

\n\tLast month at CinemaCon, Courtenay Valenti, Amazon MGM\u2019s head of film, provided a small update<\/a> on casting Bond.<\/p>\n
