Delta Goodrem has secured her place at the Eurovision 2026 grand final after performing her rousing pop ballad Eclipse at the contest in Vienna.<\/p>\n

In a performance involving pyrotechnics and dazzling lights, Goodrem climbed onto her grand piano to deliver the final chorus.<\/p>\n

Goodrem, who co-wrote the song, previously said it was about “alignment \u2014 when things all come into the right place, and it felt like the right moment to represent Australia”.<\/p>\n

She will perform in the grand final on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Australian fans Naomi and Justine, from Tasmania, arrived at the Wiener Stadthalle venue in Vienna on Thursday with high expectations.<\/p>\n

“She’s known all over so she’s got a good shot,” Justine said.<\/p>\n

“We reckon we’re through to the final and hopefully on the left side of the board.”<\/p>\n

Eclipse, which was released in March, has reached number one on the Australian AIR Independent Singles Chart.<\/p>\n

Goodrem is one of Australia’s best\u2011known pop performers, breaking through in the early 2000s with her chart\u2011topping debut album Innocent Eyes and a string of hit singles.<\/p>\n

She has since built a dual career as a singer\u2011songwriter and television personality, that has included long stint as a coach on The Voice Australia.<\/p>\n

The 39\u2011year\u2011old has also been open about her health battles, including treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma at the height of her early fame.<\/p>\n

Her Eurovision entry marks a bold attempt to win over a global audience.<\/p>\n

“Performing on the Eurovision stage is something I feel so deeply in my heart, carrying Australia with me in every note and every moment,” Goodrem said.<\/p>\n

“I wanted the staging to move like the universe itself, embracing light and shade, softness and strength.<\/p>\n

“It was also incredibly important to me to wear the vision of Australian designers, while weaving in the beauty and elegance of our host city, Vienna.”<\/p>\n

Her performance was the 11th time Australia had appeared in the Eurovision Song Contest.<\/p>\n

Five nations are boycotting this year’s Eurovision contest after the organising body allowed Israel to compete.<\/p>\n

There have also been protests in Vienna, the host city.<\/p>\n
