{"id":960496,"date":"2026-05-15T01:26:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T01:26:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/960496\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T01:26:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T01:26:16","slug":"bristol-ambulance-at-risk-of-collapse-over-alleged-1m-tax-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/960496\/","title":{"rendered":"Bristol Ambulance at risk of collapse over alleged \u00a31m tax bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">A private ambulance company that drives patients across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire is at risk of collapse, over an alleged \u00a31million tax bill.<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">People who rely on Bristol Ambulance have been advised to find other ways to travel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">His Majesty&#8217;s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has served the company with a <a class=\"qNUzV q7LZa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/wind-up-a-company-that-owes-you-money\/the-court-hearing\" data-testid=\"fecp-link-anchor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winding-up petition<\/a>. This is an application brought to the High Court to close down a company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">Director of Bristol Ambulance Shaun Pillinger told staff in a company notice that their &#8220;wages&#8230; through the end of May, (would be) fully supported&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">He said there were &#8220;no planned changes to current roles or responsibilities at this stage&#8221; and any future changes would be made with &#8220;minimal disruption&#8221; to staff and patients. <\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">Mr Pillinger added that there had been &#8220;strong interest&#8221; from other organisations in the sector about potentially investing in the company or acquiring it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">He said an external team were working on getting the court proceedings adjourned while talks with potential investors continue. <\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">A spokesperson for the NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire integrated care board said they were aware of the winding-up petition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">They said: &#8220;Local patient transport services continue to be provided on a business-as-usual basis, and eligible patients should continue to use the <a class=\"qNUzV q7LZa\" href=\"https:\/\/bnssg.net\/\" data-testid=\"fecp-link-anchor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patient Transport Hub<\/a> phone number and website as normal to book transport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">&#8220;It is possible that delays may be experienced following this announcement and we ask patients to consider using family or alternative transport arrangements where possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\">&#8220;South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is not affected by this development, and people should continue to call 999 in a life-threatening emergency.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"A8Lwr BVYCX\"><strong class=\"_1ATDh\">Reporting History sees journalists join News At Ten anchor Tom Bradby to revisit their remarkable on-the-day reports of the defining events of the modern age.
