{"id":960804,"date":"2026-05-15T04:44:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T04:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/960804\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T04:44:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T04:44:14","slug":"new-zealands-maori-queen-meets-with-king-charles-at-buckingham-palace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/960804\/","title":{"rendered":"New Zealand&#8217;s M\u0101ori Queen meets with King Charles at Buckingham Palace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Earlier this week, the M\u0101ori Queen was also welcomed by Prince Williams to Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In a post on Instagram, Prince William acknowledged the visit, saying, &#8220;it was a pleasure to meet with the Queen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A statement released after the meeting from the K\u012bngitanga said the M\u0101ori Queen discussed a range of global topics with Prince William.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Te Arikinui affirmed her belief in the power of indigenous knowledge and intergenerational stewardship to help solve the world&#8217;s environmental and social challenges.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Te Arikinui was crowned in 2024 after the death of her father &#8211; becoming only the second M\u0101ori queen, the first being her grandmother, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The M\u0101ori monarchy dates back to the 19th Century, when different M\u0101ori tribes decided to create a unifying figure similar to that of a European monarch in order to try to prevent the widespread loss of land to New Zealand&#8217;s British colonisers and to preserve M\u0101ori culture.
