{"id":960921,"date":"2026-05-15T05:59:28","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T05:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/960921\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T05:59:28","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T05:59:28","slug":"dust-and-working-hours-spark-fresh-complaints-about-bristol-building-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/960921\/","title":{"rendered":"Dust and working hours spark fresh complaints about Bristol building site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The troubled development in Hengrove has hit more choppy waters<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"bristolpost\" class=\"PremiumArticleBadge_premium-badge-image__ceBDv\" data-testid=\"premium-byline-bristolpost\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/assets\/bristolpost\/images\/premium-byline-bristolpost.svg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>06:00, 15 May 2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The site of Goram Homes and Vistry's development at the former New Fosseway School in Hengrove\" loading=\"eager\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/0_TCBR140725DustBRI_04jpeg.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"The site of Goram Homes and Vistry's development at the former New Fosseway School in Hengrove\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">The site of Goram Homes and Vistry&#8217;s development at the former New Fosseway School in Hengrove(Image: Joe Brown)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Complaints have poured in about a South Bristol development that is plagueing its neighbours with dust.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Now Bristol City Council\u2019s planning enforcement team has summoned the authority\u2019s own builder to a planning enforcement meeting due to <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/huge-hengrove-development-continuing-cause-10894847\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">ongoing issues on the site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">People living near the Fosseway development, off Wells Road in <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/hengrove\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Hengrove<\/a>, have made a series of complaints regarding the management of the building site.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Since construction on the first phase of the planned 200-home estate began in March 2025, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/nightmare-people-living-next-big-10345094\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">residents have been particularly angry<\/a> about the large amount of dust generated by the site spreading to their properties and neighbouring roads and with people regularly working outside approved hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The council has already carried out one investigation into how the site is managed, which concluded in December last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">On March 2, the council opened a second planning enforcement case against authority-owned builder Goram Homes and its development partner Vistry. Stage one of the project involves the construction of 130 new homes, half of which will be affordable housing, with the first of those homes due to be completed imminently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The second phase, <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/seventy-new-homes-elderly-step-10937765\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">the construction of 70 new affordable homes for the elderly<\/a>, will be a joint venture between Goram and Anchor, England\u2019s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life. Goram Homes is a subsidiary of Bristol Holding Ltd, which is wholly owned by <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-city-council\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Bristol City Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;We would like to reassure the community that we, and our development partner Vistry, remain committed to being a considerate neighbour as building work progresses at The Fosseway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;This building work is being undertaken to bring forward 130 new homes, 50% of which will be affordable housing.
