{"id":962655,"date":"2026-05-16T00:24:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T00:24:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/962655\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T00:24:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T00:24:22","slug":"neo-nazi-obsessed-teen-jailed-for-trying-to-kill-kurdish-man-in-bristol-with-axe-far-right","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/962655\/","title":{"rendered":"Neo-Nazi obsessed teen jailed for trying to kill Kurdish man in Bristol with axe | Far right"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">A neo-Nazi obsessed teenager who tried to behead a Kurdish barber with an axe because she wanted to \u201ckill all Jews and Muslims\u201d has been jailed for more than 15 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Alina Burns, 19, attacked Mohammed Mahmoodi, 27, with the weapon as he stood outside his shop in Bedminster in south <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk\/bristol\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol<\/a> in August last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Bristol crown court heard she had been motivated by neo-Nazi extremism and had been in contact with far-right groups.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Burns had told a man on a dating app to \u201ckill all Jews and Muslims\u201d and had searched for information online about jihad, the 2024 Southport stabbings, \u201cJewish supremacy\u201d and Nazi Germany.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Serena Gates KC, prosecuting, told the court: \u201cThe prosecution case is that the defendant had an extreme rightwing mindset and wanted Jews and Muslims to be killed and non-whites to flee or be expelled from the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Alina Burns pictured near the shop in Bristol. Photograph: Counter Terrorism Policing<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThe day before the attack the defendant was watching videos of SS marches and sent an email called \u2018The dawn of civil war\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">At a previous hearing, Burns, of Bristol, admitted attempted murder and three charges of having an article with a blade or point \u2013 specifically an axe, a scalpel and two darts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">She had denied a charge of engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to the Terrorism Act.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The crown argued that despite accepting the pleas, there remained a terrorist motivation to the attack, which was accepted by the judge, Mrs Justice Lambert.<\/p>\n<p>The axe confiscated by police.
