{"id":963131,"date":"2026-05-16T05:30:22","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T05:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/963131\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T05:30:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T05:30:22","slug":"rail-passengers-invited-to-explore-one-of-europes-top-scenic-routes-for-just-1-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/963131\/","title":{"rendered":"Rail passengers invited to explore one of Europe\u2019s top scenic routes for just \u00a31.50"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">RAIL passengers can enjoy breathtaking views for the price of a cup of tea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Northern is offering 15,000 discounted tickets for \u00a31.50 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Settle to Carlisle line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The promotion is part of a flash sale and covers single journeys between Leeds, Settle and Carlisle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Passengers can travel between May 22 and July 17, but must book at least seven days in advance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Alex Hornby, commercial and customer director at Northern, said: &#8220;The Settle to Carlisle Railway is famous around the world for its spectacular scenery and community engagement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We want as many people as possible to share in the experience of this wonderful line, which is why we\u2019re offering everyone the chance to travel for just \u00a31.50 during the 150th anniversary year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The route runs through the Pennine hills, Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley, crossing the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Earlier this year, it was named one of Europe\u2019s top 10 scenic rail journeys by Lonely Planet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A year-long programme of events is under way to mark the anniversary, including a special \u2018Settle &amp; Carlisle 150\u2019 train.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Northern runs 2,650 daily services to more than 500 stations across the north of England.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"RAIL passengers can enjoy breathtaking views for the price of a cup of tea.
