\n\tTom Francis<\/a>, best known for appearing opposite Nicole Scherzinger in Jamie Lloyd\u2019s unconventional revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber\u2019s \u201cSunset Boulevard,\u201d may be ordering his martinis shaken, not stirred. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe 26-year-old British actor, whose reputation rests primarily on his stage work, has auditioned to play James Bond<\/a>, a source with knowledge of the 007 search tells Variety. He\u2019s one of many performers jockeying for the part in a casting process that is ongoing and being overseen by Nina Gold. Reps for Francis and Amazon MGM Studios<\/a>, the producer and financier of the Bond franchise, had no comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther names that have been rumored, but not confirmed, include Jacob Elordi, the Oscar-nominated star of \u201cFrankenstein\u201d and \u201cEuphoria\u201d; Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has appeared in \u201cGodzilla\u201d and won a Golden Globe for \u201cNocturnal Animals\u201d; and Callum Turner, who recently headlined \u201cEternity\u201d opposite Elizabeth Olsen and is set to star alongside Monica Barbaro in \u201cOne Night Only.\u201d Another name floated by an insider was Cosmo Jarvis of \u201cSh\u014dgun,\u201d who enjoyed a breakout role in last year\u2019s Alex Garland film \u201cWarfare.\u201d The gruff heartthrob, however, is not in contention per his rep.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCosmo is not in the mix for the role of James Bond and is not auditioning for it,\u201d the spokesperson for Jarvis said.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrancis won an Olivier Award for his work in \u201cSunset Boulevard\u201d and was nominated for a Tony Award. His performance of the title song saw him walking through New York City\u2019s theater district as cameras captured his every move \u2014 a show-stopping theatrical moment that became a cultural event in the city.<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, the multi-talented Francis has a lean resume when it comes to screen performances. He had a small role in \u201cJay Kelly,\u201d the recent George Clooney vehicle, but is set to appear in Peter Berg\u2019s \u201cThe Mosquito Bowl,\u201d a sports drama set in World War II that also features Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd. Francis made his TV debut in the final season of the\u00a0Netflix\u00a0series\u00a0\u201cYou.\u201d<\/p>\n
