The Tigers won the national championship in 2021 and 2022 and finished as the runner-up to Tufts in 2024.

Bowdoin came into Saturday’s semifinal with just one loss – a setback to Tufts in the NESCAC title game – and were also the only team to beat Tufts in the last two seasons. But on Saturday night, RIT broke the game open in the second quarter.

RIT scored three straight goals to close the first quarter, the last by David Charney with three seconds left to take a 4-2 lead. Bowdoin got back within one on Casey Ryan’s goal to open the second quarter, but the Tigers then scored seven of the game’s next eight goals to get in control. Bowdoin never got closer than four the rest of the way.

Ryan Sanders continued his torrid scoring pace for RIT with a five-goal effort. The 6-foot-4 sophomore attackman has scored 20 goals in RIT’s four NCAA tournament games. Charney added four goals.

In the other half of the bracket, two-time reigning national champion Tufts poured in 10 goals in the first quarter of a 22-9 quarterfinal victory over York. Brooks Hauser (5g, 3a) and Chase Beyer (4g, 3a) did most of the damage on offense for the Jumbos while York committed a season-high 25 turnovers. Jack Olds and Alex Dircks combined for 12 saves in goal for Tufts, which is in the national semifinals for the fifth straight season.

Tufts will meet conference rival Wesleyan in the semifinal round on Sunday. The Cardinals pulled away from Christopher Newport in the second half, winning 15-7. Wesleyan advances to the semifinal round for the first time since its national championship season in 2018.

With the score tied 5-5 at the half, Wesleyan found the back of the net seven times in the third quarter, including the first three of the half to take command.

Ben Burns led Wesleyan with five goals and Gavin Lechner and Matt Morrow each scored three goals. Cardinal goalie Conor Selfridge made 11 saves in the win.

Quarterfinal Results

Tufts 22, York 9
Wesleyan 15, Christopher Newport 7

Semifinal Result

RIT 16, Bowdoin 12

Sunday’s semifinal

Wesleyan at Tufts

Two-time NCAA champion RIT is headed to the NCAA Division III championship game for the fourth time in…

[5311
49,978,659
0":"post-965778","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-united-states","8":"tag-united-states","9":"tag-us","10":"tag-usa
["GET
