Dave Allen was brutally stopped inside three rounds by a class above Filip Hrgovic.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Popular British heavyweight Allen took to the ring in what was his idea of a fairytale homecoming, a huge step-up in Doncaster against Hrgovic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ‘White Rhino’ was an underdog against the Croatian giant, but had the support of the raucous home crowd.<\/p>\n

But he quickly found out the quality of the former Olympic medalist in a brutal defeat.<\/p>\n

It was the third round that the fight was eventually stopped, with Allen being brutally battered by the relentless Croatian.<\/p>\n

The referee saw enough and stepped in to deny him taking unneccesary punishment.<\/p>\n

It was a delightful night for Hrgovic who is now looking set to take on Moses Itauma on August 8.<\/a><\/p>\n

On the chances of next facing the British prodigy, he said: “Moses never reached the promised land!<\/p>\n

“I want to fight with anyone in the division, Moses, anyone.<\/p>\n

“Give me a mirror [to check for injuries or cuts], George [Warren], and I’ll sign the contract now.<\/p>\n

“If I’m healthy – and I look like I am – no problem for me. I never run from any opponent.”<\/p>\n

Hrgovic then beamed as he assessed his performance.<\/p>\n

He added: “Sorry guys, I know I’m not the favourite guy round here,” he said. “It is what it is. that’s boxing.<\/p>\n

“I’m moving forward to becoming heavyweight champion of the world. I started fast because I saw I was connecting.<\/p>\n

“He was very open from the beginning so I wanted to finish him fast to make a statement.”<\/p>\n

Hrgovic walked into the lion\u2019s den, while Allen whipped up the crowd with his trademark soundtrack of Frank Sinatra.<\/p>\n

The Croatian started to find his rhythm early on, with the giant\u2019s long levers dictating the pace in a lively opener.<\/p>\n

Some thumping shots found the target early on, with Allen really struggling to land anything of note in return.<\/p>\n

For the home fighter, his trainer encouraged him to up the ante in the third as he tried to trudge forward, but Hrgovic unloaded with real purpose.<\/p>\n

It was a real beatdown late on, with Allen showing very little in the round and taking some real battering.<\/p>\n

Allen was throwing very little back, and despite bravely staying on his feet, the referee decided had seen enough.<\/p>\n
