Dott launches takeover at Lloyds Amphitheatre to show Bristol how it&#8217;s done<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"eager\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/0_TCBR270326DottBRI_08.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"New Dott e-scooters and e-bike for hire on the streets of Bristol and Bath as the firm announces a major upgrade, March 2026\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">New Dott e-scooters and e-bike for hire on the streets of Bristol and Bath as the firm announces a major upgrade, March 2026(Image: Dott)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">They have been a presence on our roads and pavements for almost six years now, but as the summer gets underway, the firm running the hire scheme of e-scooters and e-bikes in the West of England is launching a new campaign to get more people to use them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Even though the e-scooter trial in Bristol is already said to be the one of the largest in Europe, the firm behind the scheme has introduced new special offers and is holding an open day event where people who have never ridden one before can have a go.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The campaign has been backed by metro mayor Helen Godwin, who has got behind the scheme overall, expanded it to new areas and invested in creating scores more designated parking areas in the past year or so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Already this year, the expansion of the e-scooter scheme into places outside of Bristol like <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/yate\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Yate<\/a> and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/thornbury\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Thornbury<\/a> has been extended until September, and new parking areas which are painted into spaces on the roads where there would normally be on-street car parking has finally begun to happen in parts of Bristol.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">People tend to ride the e-scooters and e-bikes with longer days and better <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/weather\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">weather<\/a> in the summer, so the French micromobility firm Dott, which runs the scooter scheme in Bristol and <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bath-and-north-east-somerset\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">Bath<\/a> has launched a campaign to get more riders on board during May.<\/p>\n<p>The new deals<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The month began with the launch of a special pass, called the \u2018WEST SummerPass\u2019, which will see riders pay \u00a32.99 a month, and get unlimited 20-minute rides for just \u00a32.50.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Normally, rides cost \u00a31 to unlock the scooter or e-bike, and then 25p a minute, so the rider would be saving money on a regular ride cost after just seven minutes, and would save the \u00a32.99 spent on the pass in the first place, after just one 20-minute ride.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Dott is also introducing a special discount for people riding e-scooters on Sundays. For the rest of the summer, the \u00a31 unlock fee is being scrapped on a Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" data-tmdatatrack=\"read-more\" data-tmdatatrack-articleid=\"10889785\" data-tmdatatrack-source=\"editorial\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/new-5m-e-bikes-e-10889785\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New \u00a35m e-bikes and e-scooters mean colour change again for Bristol and Bath<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Then, on the last weekend of May, Dott is taking over the Lloyds Amphitheatre on the harbourside on Sunday May 31, for a free public \u2018Sunday Funday\u2019 event which will \u2018celebrate the rollout of its new fleet of e-bikes and e-scooters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The event will run from 10am to 4.30pm and give people the chance to try out the new vehicles for free in a \u2018safe, supervised and beginner-friendly environment\u2019. \u201cIt will feature guided first-time rider sessions, interactive challenges, giveaways and family-friendly activities throughout the day,\u201d said a spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>The metro mayor<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The e-scooter hire scheme was first introduced in Bristol way back in the middle of the Covid pandemic in October 2020, with the region\u2019s first metro mayor Tim Bowles being the first elected politician to be asked to ride one for the cameras.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It\u2019s a national scheme, a Government trial which has supposed to be in place to see whether electric scooters can be introduced onto British roads in a safe way.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1_TCR_BRI_021020e-scooterBRI_02JPG.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"West of England Mayor Tim Bowles (left) with Alex Klimt of Voi Technology launch e-scooter trials in Bristol and Bath\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">West of England Mayor Tim Bowles (left) with Alex Klimt of Voi Technology launch e-scooter trials in Bristol and Bath(Image: WECA)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The trial keeps being extended, with the Department for Transport continuing to assess the safety and impact of e-scooters, while continuing to assert that privately-owned e-scooters are still illegal to ride on public roads and spaces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Like metro mayors before her, Helen Godwin has had to balance the large numbers of people who use the trial and ride the scooters with the concerns of other road users and residents &#8211; and that\u2019s why the city was the first to get Dott\u2019s next generation of striking blue scooters and bikes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Sorting out the parking issues has been Helen Godwin\u2019s first priority, while continuing to back the scheme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Over the winter just gone, local councils, funded by WECA, have been busy painting marked parking bays for the vehicles &#8211; says Metro Mayor as major expansion continues<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">But at the same time, there have been 52 new marked parking bays have been installed across the West of England \u2014 a 260% increase &#8211; with more to come.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Helen Godwin\u2019s WECA team say it\u2019s working &#8211; with reports of abandoned or wrongly parked bikes and scooters down by half this year so far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cOver 99 per cent of Dott journeys now end in a proper parking place &#8211; I want to once again thank everyone who is doing the right thing on our roads, however they travel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWe have already made progress in striking a better balance through our Scoot Safe campaign, tackling valid concerns about e-bike and e-scooter parking and riding. The new offers announced, alongside existing discounts for <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/nhs\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"\">NHS<\/a> workers, will continue to help us strike a better balance during this trial,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Iqbal Ahmed is the head of public policy &amp; business development for Dott in the UK and Ireland.
