A pedestrian was seriously injured in a city centre horror crash after a car smashed into an island on Sunday afternoon (May 17).<\/p>\n

Police and paramedics raced to the scene of the two-car collision at the junction with Great Ducie Street and Trinity Way, outside the Manchester College. Police urged members of the public to avoid the area amid the incident.<\/p>\n

Pictures from the scene showed a significant emergency response, including multiple police vehicles and ambulances. Great Ducie Street was taped off in both directions.<\/p>\n

Congestion was building in the area, with both roads closed off by police. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) were seen conducting enquiries at the scene.<\/p>\n

The crash is thought to have involved two vehicles. One of the cars involved appeared to have been badly damaged, landing on an island at the crossing.<\/p>\n

A pedestrian was rushed to hospital from the scene with serious injuries. No further details have been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.<\/p>\n

A force spokesperson said: “Officers are currently responding to a road traffic collision on Great Ducie Street at the junction of Trinity Way.<\/p>\n
