\n Lord Bamford tops the West Midlands list yet again, with a net worth of \u00a310.318 billion, up from \u00a39.45 billion last year.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n The national newspaper noted that the Tory peer and political donor, who has retired from the House of Lords recently gained planning permission to build an observatory at his estate in the Cotswolds to showcase rural crafts and regenerative farming.\n<\/p>\n

\n This year\u2019s list of\u00a0350 individuals and families\u00a0together holds a combined wealth of\u00a0\u00a3783.5\u00a0billion \u2014 a sum larger than the annual GDP of Belgium\u00a0($776 billion), Sweden\u00a0($760 billion) and Israel\u00a0($719 billion).\n<\/p>\n

\n It represents about a quarter of the United Kingdom’s total annual GDP.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n Sir Elton John,\u00a0Lord Lloyd-Webber,\u00a0Sir Mick Jagger,\u00a0Keith Richards,\u00a0JK Rowling, Charlotte Tilbury and Sir Lewis Hamilton all appear in the annual survey.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n Robert Watts, compiler of the Sunday Times Rich List, said: \u201cThis year\u2019s Rich List is a tale of two exoduses. One in six of the individuals and families who appeared on the list two years ago don\u2019t feature this time.\u00a0 \u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n \u00a0“Many foreign billionaires who have been living in the UK have also dropped out because they have moved away. We have also seen a sharp rise in the number of British nationals now resident in Dubai, Switzerland and Monaco. As UK nationals, these people remain on our Rich List \u2014\u00a0wherever they now live. \u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n \u00a0“These two exoduses pose challenges for the UK economy and its public finances. Will more of the wealthy now set up or grow their ventures overseas and, in doing so, create fewer jobs here?
