{"id":968958,"date":"2026-05-18T14:58:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T14:58:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/968958\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T14:58:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T14:58:20","slug":"call-for-safety-measures-at-walsall-canal-after-womans-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/968958\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for safety measures at Walsall Canal after woman&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A spokesperson for the Canal and River Trust said: &#8220;We are distressed by this tragic accident and offer our sincere condolences to Jody&#8217;s family and friends.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">An internal inquiry would be carried out and and the charity would support the coroner, they added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Our charity does not own the land around the basin, so decisions about fencing are not directly within our gift.
