Leeds United\u2019s<\/a> proposed move for Hidemasa Morita is now being spoken about in Portugal as though it is already effectively done, despite conflicting reports over the past week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Recent claims had complicated the picture somewhat. Aston Villa and Brighton were both mentioned<\/strong><\/a> as possible rivals for the Sporting CP midfielder, pushing back against suggestions a move was close.<\/p>\n

The general tone in Portugal, however, started this week moving in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n

Move now framed as settled<\/strong><\/p>\n

Correio da Manh\u00e3<\/strong><\/a> have now referred to Morita\u2019s transfer to Leeds as a matter of fact while discussing Sporting\u2019s summer rebuild plans.<\/p>\n

In a report focused mainly on Sporting\u2019s transfers, the newspaper casually lists expected departures from Alvalade. Among them, Morita is simply described as a player who \u2018will represent Leeds\u2019.<\/p>\n

The exact sentence is \u201cMorita is at the end of his contract and will play for Leeds (England)\u201d.<\/p>\n

There is no more cautionary wording around it. No suggestion of uncertainty and not even a mention of negotiations still needing progress.<\/p>\n

That framing stands out because it differs slightly from previous Portuguese reports, which still described the move as advancing or increasingly likely rather than fully settled.<\/p>\n

Contradictory signals around Leeds United move<\/strong><\/p>\n

The interesting part is how inconsistent the wider reporting has become.<\/p>\n

Over the last week alone, Portuguese newspapers introduced Aston Villa and Brighton into the race. Those reports suggested Leeds no longer had a clear run at the Japan international despite holding a strong position for months.<\/p>\n

At the same time, local reporting closer to Elland Road has often been far more sceptical about the entire situation.<\/p>\n

Yet in Portugal, the confidence around the move appears to be growing rather than fading.<\/p>\n
