A man has been arrested with drugs seized after reports of a cuckooing incident at a home in south Manchester. Greater Manchester Police<\/a> are investigating after the property was raided on Royalthorn Avenue in Benchill on Monday (May 18).<\/p>\n

Detectives had received a report that a vulnerable person was being cuckooed and drugs were being sold from their address. Cuckooing is a term used to describe the actions of suspected organised crime groups forcing their way into a vulnerable adult\u2019s home to use it as a place to store drugs and money.<\/p>\n

While at the property, officers discovered and seized quantity of Class A and B drugs which are believed to be worth in the region of \u00a36,000. A suspect, a man in his 20s, was arrested. He remains in police custody for questioning, GMP said.<\/p>\n

Inspector Benjamin Davidson from GMP’s City of Manchester division said: \u201cThis arrest demonstrates our commitment to protecting vulnerable people and tackling the exploitation linked to \u2018cuckooing\u2019. We acted quickly on concerns raised by the community and have removed a quantity of drugs from the streets.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know the significant harm that this type of criminality causes to individuals and communities, and it shows the hard work of the officers within the E Relief Response team over here in south Manchester, that they have turned out to this address and safeguarded a victim and seized a significant amount of drugs.<\/p>\n
