It followed a <a aria-label=\"\" class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/gorton-pub-staff-accused-deliberate-33862053\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\" target=\"_self\">temporary suspension<\/a> of the premises licence at the end of April.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Manchester council's licensing meeting on May 19\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/0_JS406862940.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p aria-label=\"Manchester council's licensing meeting on May 19\" class=\"ImageCaption_caption-title__ccyQU\" data-testid=\"caption-title\">Manchester council&#8217;s licensing meeting on May 19(Image: Declan Carey \/ Local Democracy Reporting Service)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A GMP officer said at the hearing on May 19: \u201cDespite four visits, different officers were unable to get the CCTV footage that was requested, an investigation was hindered because we did not have access to that footage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">One of the issues discussed at the licensing hearing focused around GMP\u2019s fourth visit to the pub on April 21.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">When officers went to the pub to get hold of the video footage on April 21, it was found that \u2018the CCTV system was now a different model\u2019, according to the council report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The report added: &#8220;The original CCTV system has not been provided to police and its whereabouts are unknown.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A representative of the Angel pub gave a statement at the licensing hearing on behalf of the venue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">They said: \u201cWhile I accept and have previously stated that disposing of the CCTV footage was not the right thing to do, I strenuously deny that I did this to hinder a police investigation in any way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">They added: \u201cIn summary, what reason would I have to deliberately hide anything from GMP? GMP officers had access for five hours to 14 cameras with my full cooperation. I was told the case was isolated and no further action would be taken.
