{"id":974218,"date":"2026-05-20T22:48:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T22:48:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/974218\/"},"modified":"2026-05-20T22:48:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T22:48:21","slug":"ademas-arquitectura-uses-wall-for-casa-alba-ii-in-buenos-aires","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/974218\/","title":{"rendered":"Adem\u00e1s Arquitectura uses wall for Casa Alba II in Buenos Aires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Argentina studio Adem\u00e1s Arquitectura has completed a blocky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/concrete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">concrete<\/a> house protected by a rounded privacy wall in a suburban area of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/buenos-aires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Buenos Aires<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Casa Alba II is a 248-square-metre (2,670-square feet) house located in the city&#8217;s Ezeiza-Canning neighbourhood.<\/p>\n<p>The house was given a wall that curves around the corner of the 0.3-acre lot, serving as both a boundary and a space-generating element.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2329328 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ademas-casa-alba-ii-argentina-concrete-wall_dezeen_2364_col_19-852x710.jpg\" alt=\"Casa Alba by Ademas Arquitectura, a concrete house with a wall for privacy\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1970\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Adem\u00e1s Arquitectura has surrounded a house in Argentina with a concrete wall<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Casa Alba II explores the wall as an architectural device that constructs privacy while redefining the relationship between domestic life and the city,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ademasarquitectura.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Adem\u00e1s Arquitectura<\/a> told Dezeen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Drawing on the legacy of Luis Barrag\u00e1n, the project adopts an introspective approach, turning inward to create a controlled and atmospheric interior world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rather than a secondary element, the wall becomes the central architectural device, organizing views, light and circulation,&#8221; the studio continued. &#8220;The house unfolds inward, with each space relating back to this perimeter condition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2329331 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ademas-casa-alba-ii-argentina-concrete-wall_dezeen_2364_col_22-852x1065.jpg\" alt=\"Casa Alba by Ademas Arquitectura, a concrete house with a wall for privacy\" width=\"1891\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The house creates privacy and generates an interior courtyard space<\/p>\n<p>The perimeter wall serves to distance the residence from its suburban surroundings, filtering visual and spatial connections and reflecting natural light indirectly onto the interior of the wall into the house through large windows.<\/p>\n<p>Completed in 2024, the program is arranged in a series of volumes that run diagonally to the street, oriented toward a central intersection and running north to south.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2329323 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ademas-casa-alba-ii-argentina-concrete-wall_dezeen_2364_col_14-852x1193.jpg\" alt=\"Casa Alba by Ademas Arquitectura, a concrete house with a wall for privacy\" width=\"1688\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The distance from the wall allows for natural light to enter the living spaces<\/p>\n<p>A central axis separates the public and private areas, with three private sleeping areas on the west side of the house.<\/p>\n<p>The social spaces \u2013 the living, dining and kitchen areas \u2013 are arranged in an open plan on the west side of the axis, connecting to the garage and flowing out to a 41-square metre (44-square metre) semi-covered porch on the north end of the house.<\/p>\n<p>Built almost entirely out of exposed concrete, the design centres on material continuity and constructive clarity with a reduced palette that allows the spatial and atmospheric qualities to take precedence, the studio explained.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2329333 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ademas-casa-alba-ii-argentina-concrete-wall_dezeen_2364_col_24-852x1065.jpg\" alt=\"Casa Alba by Ademas Arquitectura, a concrete house with a wall for privacy\" width=\"1891\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>A central access serves as the primary entry and divides the house&#8217;s programme<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The exterior wall reinforces the building&#8217;s monolithic presence, while inside, the same material defines space with minimal intervention,&#8221; the team said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dark flooring and furniture are introduced to contrast with the concrete, intensifying the perception of light, shadow and texture.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2329313 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ademas-casa-alba-ii-argentina-concrete-wall_dezeen_2364_col_4-852x852.jpg\" alt=\"Casa Alba by Ademas Arquitectura, a concrete house with a wall for privacy\" width=\"2364\" height=\"2364\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The concrete of the wall is reflected in the walls of the structure itself<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a spatial device, the wall assists the house with passive cooling, thereby reducing solar exposure, while the mirrored north and south patios allow for ventilation, drawing cool breezes across the rectangular pool on the north side, through the interiors.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the concrete acts as a thermal mass during the cooler months, keeping the house at a stable warm temperature.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/04\/14\/ppaa-mexico-city-concrete-house-metal-base\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"191\" height=\"191\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ppaa-barrancas-mexico-city_dezeen_2364_col_sq4-1-191x191.jpg\" class=\"excludeLightbox wp-post-image\" alt=\"Mexico City home\" decoding=\"async\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p> PPAA designs Mexico City concrete house to rest on metal base\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[The project] highlighted the importance of precision in geometry, structure and openings when working with a limited material palette and a restrained formal language,&#8221;
