Mobile gacha game Persona 5: The Phantom X<\/strong><\/a> was a big deal in parts of Asia<\/a> for a hot minute last year, and it looks like it\u2019s days away from stealing the wallets of players worldwide.<\/p>\n

Over on the official Atlus West<\/a> social media accounts, the company\u2019s started teasing a new Persona 5<\/a> adjacent project, while SEGA\u2019s recent financial reports note that the spin-off is launching in Japan later this summer. A livestream is planned<\/a> for later this week.<\/p>\n

In its X<\/a> (or Twitter<\/a>) post, Atlus included an emoji of an owl, alluding to Lufel from The Phantom X, a kind of alternative to Morgana.<\/p>\n

We know that alongside its international version, publisher Perfect World is also plotting a console release<\/a>, and it seems inevitable it\u2019ll be available on the PS5, given the popularity of other gacha games on the system, like Genshin Impact<\/a> and Honkai: Star Rail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For those who don\u2019t know, this free-to-play game functions very similar to Persona 5, hitting the same social and dungeon crawling beats \u2013 however, the original game\u2019s calendar is replaced with an energy system, which obviously replenishes as time passes in the real-world.<\/p>\n

The turn-based battle system remains similar, and the original Persona 5 development team has helped out on art and other aspects.<\/p>\n

We think this could be a moderate hit on the PS5, then \u2013 if nothing else, the brand recognition alone should help encourage more people to try it out.<\/p>\n
