An abandoned Edinburgh shop could be transformed into a record<\/a> store and caf\u00e9 if plans are granted.<\/p>\n

An application to change the use of 373-375 Leith Walk<\/a> from retail to food and drink has been submitted to the council<\/a>. It would see the unit renamed Lounge 33 – a coffee shop and record store hybrid.<\/p>\n

The ground floor unit would incorporate indoor seating with space for records and plants, according to a website created in anticipation of consent being granted by planning officers.<\/p>\n

A supporting statement also confirms the caf\u00e9 would sell cold food only, including sandwiches and pastries as well as hot drinks. No cooking, frying or on-site preparation is proposed.<\/p>\n

Lounge 33 would also be open from 7am-4pm daily in a bid to curb potential noise or disturbance in the evening or night. There will also be no live music or alcohol sales.<\/p>\n

The supporting statement added: “The proposal seeks permission to change the use of the ground-floor retail unit at 373 Leith Walk from Class 1 (shop) to Class 3 (food and drink).<\/p>\n

“The premises will operate as a coffee shop and record store hybrid, selling cold sandwiches, pastries, and hot drinks. No cooking, frying, or on-site food preparation requiring extraction systems will take place.”<\/p>\n

The plans will now be considered by planners and can be viewed online here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
