A medical centre in Keynsham has been evacuated as a fire has broken out this afternoon (Thursday, May 21).<\/p>\n
Keynsham Health Centre has been evacuated after a fire broke out at an abandonded building on St Clements Road.<\/p>\n
There are eight fire engines at the scene and local residents have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed.<\/p>\n
St Augustine’s Medical Practice said: “The health centre has been evacuated due to a fire in a adjacent building. This is an developing situation – and it is likely that the health centre will remain closed for the remainder of the day.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “We\u2019re currently responding to a fire in a derelict building on St Clements Road, Keynsham. We currently have eight fire engines in attendance and a turntable ladder in attendance.<\/p>\n
“We encourage local residents and those nearby to keep their doors and windows closed due to a large smoke plume. No injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n
“The cause of the fire is currently unknown.”<\/p>\n
