Parents collecting their children from school have been warned of heavy smoke after a fire broke out this afternoon (Thursday, May 21).<\/p>\n

Fire crews are currently battling a large fire on St Clements Road in Keynsham after a blaze broke out in an abandoned building.<\/p>\n

Video footage taken at the scene shows a huge plume of smoke filling the sky, as flames are visible.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the fire service said, “There is a lot of smoke still in the area,” and locals have been urged to remain inside to “reduce any smoke inhalation”.<\/p>\n

There are eight fire engines at the scene as firefighters battle the fire.<\/p>\n

A number of local roads are currently closed because of the number of fire engines and emergency service vehicles in the town.<\/p>\n

It is not thought that anyone has suffered any injures in the fire. The cause is also not known at this time.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue<\/a> Service said: “We’re still on the scene in Keynsham. Please be aware there is a lot of smoke still in the area.<\/p>\n

“If you’re on the school run, travelling in the area, or live nearby, please keep your doors and windows closed, and try to remain inside to reduce any smoke inhalation.<\/p>\n

“Local roads near St Clements Road, Keynsham are closed while we deal with the incident due to a large number of fire engines and vehicles. Please try to avoid the area while we deal with the fire.<\/p>\n
