A major emergency response was called to Oldham on Thursday evening (May 21) following reports of a woman in need of rescue in a canal.<\/p>\n
Police, fire crews and paramedics were seen along Middleton<\/a> Road beside Mills Hill train station in Chadderton at around 5pm. Emergency crews attended a concern for welfare report.<\/p>\n The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said water incident teams also attended and rescued a woman from the water, who was later rushed to hospital. No further details have been confirmed.<\/p>\n Click here<\/a> to get the biggest stories straight to your inbox in our Daily Newsletter<\/strong><\/p>\n Greater Manchester Police<\/a> confirmed they were in attendance following a concern for welfare call.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: \u201cJust after 5pm on Thursday 21 May, fire crews were called to reports of a person in the water at the Rochdale<\/a> Canal, near Middleton Road in Chadderton<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cTwo fire engines from Chadderton and Blackley<\/a>, as well as the water incident unit from Heywood<\/a> and the technical rescue unit from Leigh, were quickly mobilised to the scene.<\/p>\n \u201cFirefighters used a specialist ladder to rescue a woman from the water. She was transferred to the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.
