Families are invited to discover the world of the Saxons this May half term holiday (23-31 May 2026) at the Royal Armouries Museum at Leeds Dock.<\/p>\n

Looking for a free day out for all the family this half-term? The Royal Armouries<\/strong><\/a> is offering a full week of hands-on activities, live shows and creative fun designed to keep young visitors entertained from morning to afternoon.<\/p>\n

Engaging, family\u2011friendly and rooted in history, the Royal Armouries\u2019 interactive temporary activities, which received Tripadvisor\u2019s Travellers\u2019 Choice Award in 2023, bring the past to life to inspire the next-generation of museum-goers.<\/p>\n

Step back in time on the Saxons Story Hunters trail<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> where children become trainee archaeologists for the day. Explore the museum and follow the trail of clues across a series of \u2018dig sites\u2019 to solve the mystery and uncover the identity of the skeleton in the pit.<\/p>\n

Collecting stamps as you go, this interactive journey throughout the galleries explores the birth, life and death of the Saxon warrior, making it a full day of adventure for children and grown-ups alike.<\/p>\n

From taking part in sword school training to hearing fascinating stories of everyday Saxon life, a programme of hands-on sessions brings this medieval history to life. Creative children can also get crafty by making a Saxon board game or designing their very own brooch to take home.<\/p>\n

The Saxons Story Hunters event is free to attend, with morning and afternoon sessions available, but advance booking is recommended as demand is high!<\/p>\n

As a registered charity, visitors can support the Royal Armouries\u2019 programme of family events by making a donation. Every donation helps the museum to continue inspiring visitors of all ages and backgrounds.<\/p>\n
