{"id":98005,"date":"2025-05-13T12:17:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-13T12:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98005\/"},"modified":"2025-05-13T12:17:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-13T12:17:09","slug":"martin-brundle-receives-prestigious-honour-from-british-royal-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/98005\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Brundle receives prestigious honour from British Royal Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Martin Brundle has received his OBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n<p>The Sky Sports F1 commentator received the honour of the OBE in the New Year&#8217;s Honours list for 2025, awarded in the name of King Charles III.<\/p>\n<p>The heir apparent, the Prince of Wales, handed Brundle his award during an investiture ceremony on Tuesday (13th May), at Windsor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An OBE is the second-highest rung of the British honours system, above MBE and below CBE.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, Red Bull boss Christian Horner was awarded a CBE for services to motorsport, with Brundle&#8217;s elevation to OBE coming for services to motorsport and sports broadcasting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Above a CBE is a knighthood, with seven F1 figures being knighted down the years.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart, Stirling Moss, and Lewis Hamilton have all been made &#8216;Sir&#8217;, along with Frank Williams and his number two at Williams, Patrick Head.<\/p>\n<p>The last F1 knight to date is former McLaren boss, Ron Dennis, who was knighted in 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Martin Brundle has received his OBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle.
