{"id":981067,"date":"2026-05-24T02:54:31","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T02:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/981067\/"},"modified":"2026-05-24T02:54:31","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T02:54:31","slug":"edinburgh-community-hub-launches-host-of-free-events-for-junes-great-big-green-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/981067\/","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh community hub launches host of free events for June&#8217;s Great Big Green Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AN EDINBURGH <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deadlinenews.co.uk\/2024\/04\/11\/wind-farm-funding-energises-local-community-hub\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1227123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">community hub <\/a>has announced a programme of free events to mark Great Big Green Week.<\/p>\n<p>The Hub@531, located at 531 Lanark Road in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deadlinenews.co.uk\/2026\/01\/05\/new-public-footpath-to-be-constructed-in-currie\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1253310\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Juniper Green<\/a> area of the capital, is hosting activities for all ages from 5-14 June for Great Big Green Week, the UK\u2019s largest annual celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.<\/p>\n<p>Free spaces are available to book for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deadlinenews.co.uk\/2026\/03\/26\/kpop-demon-hunters-tribute-act-to-headline-family-festival\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"1260867\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"> family-friendly<\/a> events, which range from pebble art to creative writing workshops.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.deadlinenews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/GBGW-Logo-01-scaled-e1779534560575.png?ssl=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" data-dominant-color=\"2b876d\" data-has-transparency=\"true\" style=\"--dominant-color: #2b876d;\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"335\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1779591269_401_GBGW-Logo-01.png\" alt=\"The Great Big Green Week logo.\" class=\"wp-image-1266545 has-transparency\"\/><\/a>The Great Big Green Week is the UK\u2019s largest annual celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.<\/p>\n<p>The full programme includes:<\/p>\n<p><strong>For younger children<\/strong>\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Friday 5 June 2:30-4pm | Pebble Art<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Hub@531 will have pebbles, paints and pens for kids to make their own creations (ages 5+), or have a go at Japanese rock wrapping (ages 8+ to adult) using string and natural objects to create beautiful decorative pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Supported by outdoor education specialists\u00a0Earth Calling, folks are invited to come along, get their feet wet and take a close up look at the wildlife that lives in the river.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Saturday 6 June 2-3pm | Seed planting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Using recycled rubbish to plant in, kids can plant a mini garden to grow at home.
