A woman has revealed she was left with whiplash and cuts to her hand after a man reportedly \u201cbody slammed\u201d her to the ground on a canal<\/a> path in east London<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ayla Mellek was walking along Mile End<\/a> canal with a friend when she claims a man ran into her with such force she was knocked down, despite him having \u201cspace on the path to pass freely.\u201d<\/p>\n Metropolitan Police<\/a> has said a 38-year-old man from Whitechapel has been arrested on suspicion of common assault<\/a> in relation to the alleged attack on Ms Mellek. <\/p>\n The 20-year-old marketer told the BBC<\/a> she was close to falling in the water but was grateful to have missed dangerous items such as glass and metal when she fell. <\/p>\n After the alleged attack on May 4, Ms Mellek took to TikTok to share her story, where she said she received hundreds of comments from people \u2014 many of whom were other women.<\/p>\n In the video, Ms Mellek can be heard saying: \u201cPlease if you\u2019re in London you need to be so careful because I just got assaulted today in broad daylight.\u201d<\/p>\n Happened at Mile End Canal, please watch out\u2026 #eastlondon<\/a> #assulted<\/a> #attacked<\/a> #madman<\/a> #fyp<\/a> #crime<\/a> #canal<\/a> #mental<\/a> <\/p>\n \u266c original sound – Ayla x<\/a> <\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n \n
